Christmas Events in Hendersonville NCNational Gingerbread House Competition and Display – Grove Park Inn (290 Macon Ave, Asheville, NC).  Now through January 2, 2011.  Guests of the Grove Park Inn can view the gingerbread house displays at any time.  But, if you are a visitor to the Inn, public viewings are available for free Mondays through Thursdays only.  For more info, please call 800-438-0050 ext 80.

12 Days of Christmas – Historic Downtown Hendersonville.  December 17, 18 and 19, 2010.  Enjoy free music, kids activities, entertainment, shopping during special times and even Santa at the gazebo on Saturday, December 18 from 1pm to 3pm.

Holidays in the Park – Jackson Park (801 Glover St, Hendersonville, NC).  December 17 and 18, 5:30pm to 7:30pm.  Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand to visit with the all the good boys and girls.  Enjoy hay rides, kids crafts, live entertainment, refreshments and holiday lights.  Please bring new, unwrapped toys to the park for the Toys for Tots drive.

Bounty of Bethlehem Dinner – Immaculata Catholic School (711 Buncombe St, Hendersonville, NC).  Christmas Day, December 25, from 1pm to 5pm.  Everyone from the community is welcome to dine for free.  Santa will be on hand, there will be gifts and entertainment for participants.  For more info, please call 828-693-5115.

Christmas Tree Recycling Project – Administration building in Jackson Park (801 Glover St, Hendersonville, NC).  December 26 through January 8.  After you take down your decorations and tinsel, bring your tree to Jackson Park.  All trees that are collected will be chipped into mulch on January 8, 2011 from 9am to 2pm.  If you would like to collect some of the mulch, simply bring down a bag or box.  Mulching will happen no matter what the weather is like.  For more info, please call 828-692-0385.

Holiday Tour of Inns and Cookie Caper in HendersonvilleIf you love cookies, architecture and the winter holidays, you may want to take a Holiday Tour of Inns and Cookie Caper in Hendersonville on Sunday, December 12, 2010 from 1pm to 5pm.  This is a self-driving tour of seven historic inns throughout the Hendersonville community that are decked out in all their holiday glory.  The inns on the tour include:

  • The Angelique Inn – 813 5th Avenue West
  • Aunt Adeline’s Bed & Breakfast – 1314 Hyman Avenue
  • The Claddaugh Inn – 755 North Main Street
  • The Elizabeth Leigh Inn – 908 Fifth Avenue West
  • The Inn on Church – 201 Third Avenue West
  • Melange Inn & Gardens – 1230 5th Avenue West
  • The Waverly Inn – 783 North Main Street

Sponsored by the Hendersonville Historic Preservation Commission, the Holiday Tour of Historic Hendersonville Inns is a fun way to help raise funds for the commission.  For $20 per person, participants not only get to see the inside of these beautiful historic inns, but they also get to receive a special Christmas treat at each of the inns they visit.  Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Heritage Museum (1 Historic Courthouse) or the City Hall’s Planning Office (145 5th Avenue East).  Tickets will not be available on the day of the tour of inns.
